| The Industrial Employment (Standing Order) Act, 1946 |
| Object: |
To define the conditions of recruitment, discharge, disciplinary action, holiday, leaves etc. |
|
| Applicability & Obligation: |

To every Industrial Establishment employing 50 or more workmen in Maharashtra and Gujarat State |
| • |
To frame draft standing orders & submit them to certifying officer for certification within six months from the date of the applicability of the Act. |
| • |
Once the Act is applicable, it continues to apply even if the no. of workmen falls below the statutory limit. |

| Eligibility: |
| • |
To workmen doing manual or technical work, clerical or supervisory work and journalist in case of newspaper establishment. |
